Help - v.1.54 - Is my problem MIME compliance?

I am sure this question has been answered in the past, but I would
appreciate any help that you can give me.

I use v 1.54 to send 'mass mailings' to various people around the world
who read it using various applications - from ccmail, compuserve, etc. I
am getting complaints from various people, using various email clients,
telling me that:
1) their email is full of odd characters;
2) my messages do not wrap at their end;
3) my lines are too long and therefore when they view my emailings, the
lines are split in two uneven lines, making it difficult to read.

Is there a solution to my problem(S)? I tried changing the length of the
line but could not find the setting for this. I tried sending messages
with Wrap on and off. This did not seem to fix the problems either.

I am told that v.1.54 is not fully MIME compliant and therefore this
causes all these problems. Is this true?

1.54 does everything that I need in an email client and I would hate to
spend over $100 (Canadian) for v.3.0 - so any help/tips/suggestions that
you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
