I have been getting TONS of spam through Eudora lately. Also, I have been
getting non-spam classified as spam and it continues to do this despite my
Un-Junking all the non-spam messages.

I want to reset the spam filter and get it to learn from scratch. I've
tried to do this by deleting the mailbox and index files but, this hasn't
changed a thing and in fact, I believe it has made the problem worse. It
has been a few weeks since I did this so there is now plenty of spam in my
Junk box to learn from but still, I am getting tons of spam each day.

So, is there a reliable way to reset the spam filters? Or, should I opt for
a 3rd party filter. In this case, is there something available for Eudora
that is superior in this regard?

Thanks,

-Art

You have to find the Bayesian filter and empty it.

I have been using MailWasher Pro for several years and it does a very
good job.

http://www.firetrust.com/products/mailwasher-pro

It uses Bayesian Inference to detect spam and also does a lookup on
various anti-spam websites like SpamHaus, SpamCop, ORDB and visi.com.
The one thing you do not want to do is enable "bouncing" because all
that does is pass the spam on to someone else.

They even have a dedicated forum:

File "UserJunkDB.txt" (in "Plugins" folder of your mail data folder)
is your "spam learning" file; you could rename it "UserJunkDB.old"

Or borrow a copy from another Eudora mail data folder
where things are going better.

If this doesn't help, check your filters.
