I am having problems with a user. For some reason there are no Protocols
Showing up when I click the Directory Services Tab and when I click the New
Database Button I get no way to add a Directory Service. Now in the Older
Versions (4.3, 4.2) all I had to do was delete the eudora.ini file and that
would fix the problem. That does not seem to be working now as a fix. Can
anyone point me to what I need to do to fix this for the user. BTW the
user does NOT have Admin permissions and never will so I need to know how
to solve this. I have tried looking in the Eudora Knowledge Base and
Google but I am not finding the solution.

Thanks,

NT-ish policies are not my strong suit, but I suspect that might be where
the problem is coming from. Eudora writes keys into
HKCU\Software\Qualcomm\Shared\DirServices for protocols.

Thanks Jennifer. But I looked there and it looked just fine. It is too
bad because it looks like Qualcomm is starting to user Reg Keys that
they use to ignore. Thanks for the try.

Since the system is Windows 2000/XP (and probably NT), then the problem lies
in not having several entries in HKLM\Classes\CLSID\{.....} properly filled
in. If you launch Eudora in administrator mode once and go into directory
services, it should propagate those entries properly. The keys in question
are listed below. If that fails, you can export them from a working machine
and then import them as the administrator.

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{0E5728A0-1E64-11D1-8877-00805F4AB1BF}]

Dan,

THANKS! Actually that was about the only idea I had left was to try
logging in as Admin and start the Dir Services and hope that it would
fix the problem. This is really great help! Thanks so much.

PS I will try that today and let you know if it works. Thanks again.
