Does anyone know if and where I can to get spell checker in French for
Eudora Pro? Can I use my MS Word spell checker?
Thank you
André
Try:
Eudora Pro includes a built-in spelling checker with customizable dictionary.
Dictionaries are available for American English, British English, French,
German, Italian, Spanish and Portugese.

I can't find the spell checker file on the Eudora site
http:/www.eudora.com/
So you can ftp them from here:
[Eudora]
HOST=ftp.qualcomm.com

PWD=guest
LOCDIR=C:\TEMP
DIR=/eudora/eudorapro/windows/extras/dictionaries3.0.1

Unfortunately Eudora Pro 3.0.1 has problems with spell-checking
accented words. It seems to consider accented characters as
non-alphabetic and splits the words accordingly. For example if you
spell check "procédure" in French this is considered as 3 words:
"proc", "é" and "dure". Not very helpful really.
I have reported this bug to Qualcomm, but have received no indication
as to when it might be fixed.

That's correct! Thanks for the info.

Gee! Isn't there an easier way to switch between dictionnaries???
Going to the .ini file each time I spell a mail in English
or French is too much of a hassle.
I don't understand why they didn't include such a basic configuration
in the Tools menu... For a programm which calls itself "Pro", this
should be available!

Put in both dictionaries into the ini file...

Put the following in the EUDORA.INI file and both will work.
MainLexFiles=american.tlx,american.clx,sscefrc.tlx,sscefrm.clx
Assuming you properly placed the spell check files in the
*Eudora* directory.
In the French version of Eudora Pro the spell check files are called
francais.tlx / .clx, but other than that your solution works (apart
from the bug in checking words with accented characters), but I must
agree with the original post that the ability to change languages on
the fly, message per message, would be much better.
Imagine the simple case of wanting to use British English to write to
correspondents in the UK and American English to write to people in
the USA...
You can always have two icons for Eudora, one with an INI file for
the British dictionary amd another with the INI file pointing to the
French dictionary.
(not exactly what you want, but maybe better than both in one?)
