When attempting to open Eudora 6.1, it starts to show the IN box and then an
error message 'Unable to write to temporary file. An unhandled exception
.....'
Then another window with ' Eudora.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by windows'

And another 'You will need to restart'. The application then closes
although the in box is fully listed.

Suggestions will be appreciated.

Joe

This could be caused by having no more space left on your HD for eudora
to write to. Check that you have enough space left on the drive. Also, do
you have a large In mailbox? You could try cleaning it out and moving
most of the email to an 'old' mailbox.

However - if you can't open Eudora at all, you would have to manually
rename the file In.mbx (located in your Eudora mail folder) to for
instance 'Old.mbx', then delete the file In.toc, with Eudora closed, then
restart it. Eudora should then recreate your inbox and create an Old
mailbox with your email.

You could also try backing up and then deleting your eudora.ini file, but
then you would have to do all the settings again.

Also have a look at:

hope this helps;

Thanks Shan
The 2nd 'kb' started me on the right track. The files are stored on a
Linux server and a few permissions were not properly set. Thanks again. It
was a much bigger deal than you may have realized
