Drag and Drop no longer works (attachment)

I had to do a full reset on a Win 8.1 laptop. Prior to this, all worked well (as well as 8.1 will allow Eudora 7 to work).

Now I can no longer drag and drop attachments on to emails. I get the circle with the hash mark. I can do attachments with the message --> add file menu command, but would really prefer drag and drop.

Anyone have any clues?

There'also the tool bar icon, the envelope with the paper and the paper
clip. But I realize that's not much better than message menu.

On my computer, the Windows key didn't work for a whole day -- I had to
click on Start. At the end of the day it worked.

And Cntl-c or -v only worked if I pressed it several times. That
dragged on for months. And then it worked again and has without
problems for months.

You can tell I'm one of the least techie guys here.

It was running in admin mode on a new bad install in the program folder. Reinstalled so data writes to non protected win 8.1 area and non admin mode. All better.

I understand the non-protected area, but what does administrative mode
have to do with it? In XP I run in adm. mode all the time.

It seems that in Win 8.1 admin mode works differently. If I run in admin mode, I can no longer drag and drop. I do not experience this in Win XP or 7.

I wish they'd stop changing things. I don't care if there are "good"
reasons. . Maybe when Bill Gates and the original crew are too old to
remember all the changes they will.
