Extra step after reinstall

I reinstalled my old Eudora 6.2 after a problem and have redone most of
my desired defaults. However, one thing puzzles me. If I go to my OUT
box and open an email to check its contents, and I try to close it,
Eudora invariably now asks, "Do you want to save changes?" I have made
no changes to the outgoing item of mail but I can only continue by
clicking 'discard changes' - a slightly annoying extra step in view of
the fact that no changes have been made. Any ideas how to get it to stop
asking me this?
