In the above filter taken from the filter file, what is id 1110 used
for?

My filter file is only 56k. It won't grow. Seems as though, when I
add a new filter, another one is removed.

I'm not sure, but I think that means it was the 1110th filter you
created.

That's a lot of filters! I suspect you may have bumped into a limit.
I've got what seems like quite a few filters (117), and the size of the
file is 20k. Some of the id numbers are skipped; I think they keep
their ID numbers even after you've deleted an obsolete filter. Some of
mine have ID numbers in the 300's, but there are numbers missing.

I'd suggest purging some of the filters you no longer use and see if
that solves the problem. You can tell which ones they are--the little
green dinosaur indicates a filter that hasn't been used recently. Just
look at the filters marked with the dinosaur and remove the ones
unlikely to be hit again. You'll still be losing some of your filters,
but at least you get to choose which ones.

If that doesn't solve the problem, post back and maybe we can figure
something else out.

Thanks. 56k seems to be the limit. Getting rid of unused filters
allow room for new filters.

Thanks for posting back. It's always a pleasure to learn something new;
I hadn't known about a limit on the size of the filters file.

On this mailing list:
http://www.listmoms.net/lists/eudora-mac/

People have today reported having a much larger filters file,
the largest being:

"My 'Eudora Filters' file is 400KB... the last filter added has id 2298!"

I don't recall seeing any mention of Eudora or OS version
in the posts of this usenet thread which report a 56K limit.

Still not sure about the limit.
I do know that when it hits 44k it starts to erase old but still used
filters.

BUT, I can confirm that if the filter file is locked, it not longer
erases them.

I cleaned out old filters. And renumbered the id's (I have 335 filters)

Also, while on vacation, somehow, Eudora.app's name was changed!!!
can't remember to what, but I locked the app as well, with no further
problems.

Also, the settings file kept dissapering one day after i upgraded to
10.5.8! (fortunately I had backups) So, I locked the Eudora folder,
too. It's been ruuning fine since then.
