I miss this feature of Eudora as well, but I pretty much had to give up
Eudora when work switched to Exchange as a mail server platform.
My analog for the feature was to use a Smart Folder in Mail.app (Outlook
2011 also has a similar tool) to look for all unread messages. I also
created other Smart Folders to only look for unread messages in certain
sets of folders, high priority mail, mail only from the last 2 days, etc.
It's overall been a reasonable substitute.
