This is probably the best solution--and I would replace the Eudora
settings while you're at it.

My guess (and obviously it's only a guess) is a random cosmic ray
knocked a bit out of place in that one file.

I can't remember if the limit is 32,000 messages, or 32,000 bits--I
think messages. Besides, if it's an old mailbox that hadn't previously
given trouble and hasn't received new messages, then it still shouldn't
be giving trouble.
