My copy of Eudora 5.0.1 Mac started behaving oddly this morning. New
emails that appear in the mailbox no longer display the UNREAD message
status icon (the little blue sphere).

I noticed the headers for my emails now contain a line that reads :
"Status: RO", which seems to be related to the problem.

Is this problem caused by something new my email server is doing?

I'd like to keep track of read and unread messages, so I need to fix
this problem.

Please email any advice to da...@lynchgraphics.com

Thanks!

If you (or somebody else) have already checked your email with Eudora on
another machine or using some other mail client, the server will flag
the message as having been read (Status: RO). If you are certain that
you have not previously checked the mail and that no one else who is
authorized has checked mail, then contact your system administrator or
Tech help desk to find out why the server is showing the mail as checked
and correct the problem.

If you'd like email copies, especially when you want them to go to an
address different from your From address, please set either a
"Reply-To:" or "Mail-Copies-To: " (MCT) header in YA-Newswatcher with
the lynchgraphics.com address.

If you're not familiar with the MCT header, it can have one of 3
entries:

Mail-Copies-To: Nobody (or Never) - You never want email copies
of posts
Mail-Copies-To: Poster (or Always) - to request email copies of
posts to be sent to your "From" address
some...@somewhere.com) To request copies of posts be sent to an
address different from your "From" address

Most Mac newsreaders honor the MCT header by automatically preparing an
email copy of followups to your posts if appropriate or alerting other
posters that you don't want email copies if they attempt to prepare an
unwanted email copy. The user can override the setting but usually will
honor your request.
