I have developed a problem on an iMac (blue) 400 Mhz.
OX 9.2.2 using Eudora 5.1 - Works fine
OX 10.4.11 using Eudora 6.1 worked fine until last week.
Since my better half still uses 9.2.2, I put an alias of the Eurora
Folder (from the System Folder) in the Root > Documents Folder. That
allowed her to use either version 5.1 or 6.1. This has worked since OS
10.3
Last week, when checking for mail in 10.4.11 it returned the
following screen:
-------------------------------------
Error while checking mail for <<Dominate>>
Couldn't open mailbox.In.temp (-5000); An unknown error has
occurred. {45:215}
-------------------------------------
There have been no changes in software on the iMac in the last three
months

Using Eudora 5.1 in 9.2.2 (or Classic) works fine. Both versions use
the same settings file, but something has changed.

Reinstalled - version 6.1 in 10.4.11 no change.
Reinstalled - version 6.2.4 in 10.4.11 no change.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

This problem is solved, although I don't know why. Instead of an alias
of the Eudora Folder being placed in the Documents Folder, I put the
actual Eudora Folder into the Documents folder. Eudora now workes fine
in 10.4.11. The alias of the folder now is in the System Folder of OS
9.2.2 and Eudora 6.1 works fine in 9.2.2. Go figure?

When you do a comlpletely new installation of Eudora, on a computer
where no Eudora was installed before (means, with no "old" files or
settings lying around somewhere), the "Eudora folder" is installed in
the "Documents" folder. This was, if I am not totally mistaken, the case
since about Eudora 5 (maybe even since version 4) on the "old" MacOS and
continued until the most recent version. And since all mails are stored
in the "Eudora folder", I can even understand what the programmers
thought (which is not the case in all programs I own).

So I am wondering why you had yours in a different location...?
