Is anyone else seeing this? I'll see if it goes away after a reboot -
I've already logged out and logged back in.

Well, restarting didn't help, and neither did reinstalling Eudora. However,
thanks to the 'fs_usage' tool I found out which file Eudora accessed last
before crashing. It was ToastVideoCDSupport.component's resource fork.
So I did find the source of the problem, and it was a rather non-obvious
conflict of two pieces of software: Toast's ToastVideoCDSupport.component
version 1.1, which gets installed by Toast 5.1 in /Library/QuickTime, and
MIT Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0b2.
I believe the problem was triggered by my upgrading to Toast 5.1 final, and
the MIT KfM beta expiring. If I include the Toast 5.1.1 version of the
ToastVideoCDSupport.component (or no component at all), I start Eudora and
get:
- a dialog box about Kerberos expiring. I click OK.
- a dialog box telling me Eudora has crashed (and CrashReporter reporting a
crash in the same place)
- a dialog box titled "Application Launch Failure" with the text "The
application ³Eudora² could not be launched because of a shared library
error: ³4<eudora51-carbon><MIT Support;RuntimeLib;Carbon><><>²"
Otherwise, the dialog box about Kerberos _starts_ to display, but then
Eudora quits before I can read the text.
After upgrading to Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0b6, everything is fine, with
either version of ToastVideoCDSupport.component.
Just posting in case anyone else has this problem. It sure is nice to be
able to troubleshoot this kind of thing without having to restart all the
time!
