Gmail IMAP and folder hirarchy

I'm giving gmail a try and got it set up and working as an IMAP account.

All well, except it adds it's own nested bunch of folders. I get the
usual Eudora Inbox, Junk etc. folders *plus* a [Gmail] folder with more
inside, which is where gmail stores mail by default:

gmail
Inbox
Junk
[Gmail]
All Mail
Drafts
Sent Mail
Spam
Starred
Trash

A bit annoying to browse as other IMAP servers I use, don't add this
additional level.

I don't suppose there's a way around that?
