I have Eudora running in a virtual machine using Snow Leopard Server. It
seems to work like it was running on a real computer. The only drawback
is that if you click on a link, it opens in Snow Leopard's version of
Safari. Getting access to attachment sis also a bit tedious, but by
judicious use of sharing, I can get my desktop to appear as a folder on
the Snow Leopard desktop.

But I have noticed something I do not recall seeing before. There is
what looks like a small, pale blue cube with a shadow to the left of the
Queue button when I am composing a message.

As far as I can tell, it does not do anything.

Is anyone else seeing this?

From the Eudora 6.2.4 manual:

MoodWatch
ice cube--There is no offensive language in the message.
1 chili--There may be a slight bit of offensive language in the message.
2 chilies--There may be offensive language in the message.
3 chilies--There is offensive language in the message.

The "shadow" is melted ice. :-)

Ah, of course. This was a clean install and I must not have turned off
the mood messages.

Thanks Patty.

Why would you want to disable that feature, David? It doesn't affect
your use of the program (except for asking you to verify that you want
to send a possibly offensive message), and meanwhile you sometimes get
cute little chilies in your toolbar. :-) I guess it could be a hassle
for people who frequently use naughty language in their messages... :-)

Moi????? Naughty language????

Never!

I don't know why I turned it off, but I did.

It may have been like that preference that said something like "Turn off
trendy 3D junk and save a few cycles".

Yup. I even posted about it in 2010:

Yes. Essence of Dorner, that one.

I always felt that long gone setting was one of the reasons to use
Eudora for as long as possible.

As an example of the nonsense that goes on.....

If you have a webloc file (URL) on your desktop, and double-click it,
there is normally an animation of the window opening, then the window
appears.

On a new iMac recently with a very fast processor, you double-click on
the webloc, the window appears instantly, then half a second later, you
see the animation of the window opening. Now that's a bit of a waste of
cycles.....
