i have a toshiba 1905-s303 with the ati radeon mobil, running windows
xp. since the day we got it has been flaky running certain games, in
particular full screen dos oriented games. we currntly have driver
version 6.13.10.6071. everquest says to go get an update to fix the
problems, but toshiba doesnt have an update and ati says go to laptop
manufacturer for driver update.

any suggestions? the problem is crashing and exiting the program. we
have tried running the games in me compatibility mode and no difference.

Generally - there are exceptions - ATI drivers for laptops need to be
issued by the laptop vendor since the graphic chipset is often
customized specifically for the laptop board design. Some have had
success in using the latest ATI Catalyst desktop drivers, but I've never
been remotely happy with the results. If you try this, be prepared to
boot into Safe Mode to remove the ATI software and driver and have the
original driver/software installer handy.

If you run games from the command window, the game is not using the ATI
driver at all. The problems are with the XP-style DOS emulation. You

I have the same exact laptop and had some of the same problems. I'm now
using drivers from Dell. My drivers indicate Dell packaging version
7.83-030120a1-008238c Dell.

You might be able to find them here:

I *think* this is the one that worked best for me:

http://ftp1.us.dell.com/video/R58682.EXE

YMMV, but whatever Dell does with their ATI drivers is significantly
better than my experience with the Toshiba supplied drivers.

Hope it helps.
