Well that's right...

The fact is that in order to see yourself in the face you would have to
turn around and look in the other direction, and the usual way of doing
that is to turn in the horizontal plane, which swaps left and right.

The mirror just helps you to do that.

If you stood on your head to look in the other direction then top and
bottom would be inverted instead;-)

If your mirror happens to have a hinge such that you can
arrange the mirrors like this:

you can get really confused trying to comb your hair!
