Hi:

I received a file thru an intermediary from a remote client (with an
Apple computer) with the extension: .twd

I have to open and process this file, but cannot seem to find a program
to do so.

Open Office was flummoxed by it too !

I placed the header of this file below, and would appreciate someone
telling me what proggie made it, and what conversion programs can decipher
it and (perhaps) turn it in to a .doc or a .pdf file

Thanks for any guidance !

Hi,

RTF ?

I copied and pasted your file in a text editor and named it test.rtf and
opened with MS-Word.

Hello,

MindMapper seems to be a proprietary grandfather of Visio:

Hi F. Trautwein and Ella:

F. Trautwein:
I try doing what *you* did. Thanks !

Ella:
I also tracked down MindMapper too, but couldn't open it with their
product.

Both:

Meanwhile, I finally got thru to the original writer. She said that she
bought a new MacBook Air, and sh got with it a 'free' app called 'tword'
which is supposed to be a report writer or some such thing. I told her to
try to buy an upgrade where she could 'export' her docs to a m ore universal
format.

Thank you both, and now I'll try F' Trautwein's suggestrion

Hi Fausto:

Ultimately I had to go to an on line 'hustler' to convert the .rtf file
to a .doc file before my OpenOffice set of tools was able to work with the
file. Every step of the way I was bombarded with advertisements to *buy* a
converting product. I'm surprised that OpenOffice does not recognize or
work with .rtf files or, if they *do*, I still get an Open error on this
.rtf file

Thanks again for the hint !

Mel,

LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 was able to open the test.rtf file, even WordPad. I
don´t know if a complex file will open. If you want I can test another
file with LibreOffice, just send it to my email.

Hi Fausto:

I, too, was able to open the complete file with WordPad !!

However, my (much more powerful) OpenOffice suite of programs said
"General Error, General Inpout/Output Error"

So, I guess OO is the culprit here ! In the many sets of formats, it
'says' it can handle is .rtf files. But, I guess not !

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll leave it alone for awhile now.

*and* Thanks again for the .rtf suggestions !

-Mel
