Hi
I'm a beginner in programming VHDL.
It would be very helpful if I had an editor which makes some highlitning
on the VHDL keywords.
Does anybody know where I can get a free version for an VHDL-EDITOR for
Windows NT?

Thanks for help
Alex

Hi,

Try EMACS! You can find an Win95/NT version of EMACS at

http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/voelker/ntemacs.html .

To add syntax highlitning, dynamic abbreviations, ... to
EMACS you may use the VHDL package of Reto Zimmermann and
Rod Whitby located at

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Peaks/8287/ .

Take a look at the Zeus for Win32 Programmer's editor. It's features
include Brief, Epsilon or Wordstar keyboard emulation, status bar,
toolbar, syntax colorizing (including VHDL), background compiler,
inline error correction, unlimited undo/redo, keyboard macros,
scripting language etc.

For more details and even some nice screen shots of Zeus in action
check out the following web page:

Please note that Zeus is shareware (not freeware).

You may also want to take a look at the following web page:

This page does a good job of giving summaries regarding several editors
for several platforms.
