Thanks,

Green Mountain can be reached at "http://together.net/~thibault/". I've
been using their demo compiler and simulator to try and learn VHDL. The
Compiler seems OK, It catches most syntax errors. The simulator is OK but
it's DOS and not very interactive, unless your test bench has a lot of
prompting code. I am use to Viewlogic's interactive simulator which I
prefer to the Green Mountain's. I'm still looking for a good,
in-expensive VHDL compiler/simulator that's generic, preferrably runs
under Windows, NT, OS2 or Win'95.
If you find out where to find the Vanilla VHDL, please let me know or
post the location here.
Regards,
Tom.
The latest version of the VHDL FAQ - Part 3 says (the phone number
is good but they don't appear to have a WWW Site).

Vanilla VHDL is a complete implementation of the 1987 IEEE standard,
including configurations. Like the old MCC system, it is completely
text-based, with a gdb-like command set for its debugger/simulator. Unlike
MCC, it does not translate to C, but instead uses an interpreted engine,
since this simplifies debugger implementation and enhances portability.
To fund further development of the tools, they are now commercially
available on the PC. A 386 or better is required. An introductory price is
in effect until July 30, 1995.
