Hi, All:

I am using cadence simvision to view the simulation waveforms. The code is
fine through ncvhdl, ncelab and ncsim. But, after selecting the signals, i
open the waveform window, there is a pop-up which says

"object must have read access"

and then, I can not see the selected signals in simvision!

Anybody know how to handle with this problem? Appreciate any help!

Best,

-/X

ncsim run in 'performance mode' out of the box. This means that any
possible optimization is active. One of the is to remove access rights
to signals. You can change that by adding the switch -access rwc, where
'r' stands for read (probing), 'w' for writing (forces) and 'c' for
callback (allowing external C functions to wait on signalchange). In
your case '-access r' should be sufficient.

Make sure you use the correct options to ncvhdl and ncelab.

ncvhdl -linedebug ...
ncelab -access +rwc ...

will enable full visibility of everything, which is great for
debug but limits the optimisations that the simulator can do;
consequently it makes large simulations run slower.

If you only need to see simple signals in the waveform viewer,

ncelab -access +r

is adequate.

You have to specify the access during the elaboration using
the option

ncelab -access +rwc

You might also want to make sure you specify -linedebug
for compilation as well, e.g.

ncvhdl -mess -linedebug
