I have installed Modelsim SE 5.7c which I downloaded from
www.model.com on my desktop, since I was not mailed the license file.
I created one with the following details after looking at the
information given in http://www.model.com/products/pdf/se_start.pdf
SERVER gates 117234f39g1m 1650
DAEMON modeltech ./modeltech ./options
FEATURE vsim modeltech 1997.090 07-APR-2002 2 \
6C92577EC335F4C9568D ck=61
FEATURE vcom modeltech 1997.090 15-JUN-2004 2 \
6C92577EC335F4C9568D ck=61
but I still get the following message
license manager: can't initialise: Invalid license file syntax
License text: 117234f39g1m
License path: D:\modelsim\win32\license.dat
FLEXlm error: -2,402
When installing modelsim SE 5.7c I was asked to choose from hardware
security key(dongle), softguard and Ethernet id for licensing option.
Can you give me info about these key configuration and which is best
suited for a Desktop and why.(I configured for the Ethernet Card of my
PC)

Vidya Vijay
You do realize that the whole purpose of this license file is to
prevent people that did not pay for the software from using it?
It's intended to be hard to create. So hard to create that it's
easier and cheaper to -pay- for one.
Your request is very similar to (using cars instead of software) :
"Hey, there's this real nice car parked out side. But my key doesn't
fit it. Can someone teach me how to make a key so I drive it?"
SH7
OTOH, if you did pay for it, just call Mentor. They will be very
happy to send you a valid license.
