Is there anything written out there to help automate tests on GUIs created by
Tk?

That is, instead of a manual test procedure to "press button 1, wait for blah
to appear etc.".

If you can help, please EMAIL me at

rs...@awadi.com.au

thanks,

ray

Ray:
We have not been able to find any tools that are built for TCL.
We did have someone work on a capture/playback tool that used that used that
output of the commands into a file that you could play back. If you find a
commerial tool out there. We would like to know. I would love to have one.

"Automated Testing" and "expect" are very tightly coupled in my
brain's information space. A coworker has my copy of "Exploring
Expect" by Don Libes; published by O'Reilly and Associates. Also see
the comp.lang.tcl FAQ, and ftp from ftp.cme.nist.gov;
/pub/expect/expect.shar.Z

Still learning what expect can do,

Chris

Start with TkReplay <URL:http://www.cs.unm.edu/~crowley>.
If that's not enough, write; there are other, not-so-public
efforts underway.

Read over <URL:http://www.teraform.com/%7Elvirden/tcl-faq/part4.html> paying
particular attention to DejaGNU. It is based on the expect Tcl program
and is specifically intended to be a framework for developing test automation.
