Just to inform the group that there is a new release of the
TkDND package at SourceForge. TkDND is an extension that
adds native drag & drop capabilities to the Tk toolkit.
New features include:
* Support for OLE IDropHelper under windows. This means that you
are able to see the icons during drops from applications
that support this feature, like windows explorer.
* Ability to include wildcards in the drop types, just
like in 'string match' . For example, a tk application can
register as drop type the type "CF_*" under windows. A drop
will be succesful if the drag source supports at least one type
that matches this type (like CF_HDROP). TkDND will try to choose
one of the supported by the drag source types to do the data
transfer. Being a little "clever", it will try to select a type
that knows how to handle before using anything else.
This feature works under windows and unix. Under unix though
it works only with the XDND protocol. No support for the
Motif protocol (yet?).
* A new demo (dndSpy.tcl) that can be used to see what drag and
drop types are supported by an application. (As it accepts
drops of type "*" :-)). A screenshot of dndSpy in action can be
found at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tkdnd/TkDND.PNG
TkDND can be found at SourceForge, as always...
