I'm please to announce the availability of Version 0.8.1 of TclRAL, a
relational algebra library for Tcl. Version 0.8.1 is an incremental release
that is backward compatible at the script level. There have been a number
of code base improvements. Several new commands were added that experience
indicated were useful. Several commands have new optional arguments. The
biggest new feature is relvar tracing. It is now possible to define a trace
on a relvar and intercede in the relvar operation. A new package
called "ralutil" is included that contains some useful procs. The "ralutil"
package is, in places, quite experimental as subject to interface changes.
There is no documentation yet for the "ralutil" package, but that will come
later as the interfaces stabilize.

The project is hosted at sourceforge. Source and precompiled binaries for
Linux and Windows are available (sorry Mac folks, but I'm working on it).

A small correction to the URL:

On another note, Andrew, this is a very interesting package. I hope
you continue developing it.

Thanks for the URL correction (my typing does betray me at times) and the
words of encouragement. I do believe that relationally structured data is a
very powerful concept in programming and intend to continue the development
of the "ral" package to have these concepts in my favorite implementation
language.

Also, I'm struggling with the doc manager at sourceforge (as usual), but the
full docs are available via links on the project web site.
