I am pleased to announce the availability of the BWidget Toolkit
version 1.7.0 in both .gz and .zip file formats. This version of the
library has also been released with ActiveState's ActiveTcl 8.4.5.0.
What is it?
-----------
The BWidget Toolkit is a high-level Widget Set for Tcl/Tk built using
native Tcl/Tk 8.x namespaces.
The BWidgets have a professional look&feel as in other well known Tk
extensions (such as Tix or Incr Widgets), but the concept is radically
different because everything is pure Tcl/Tk. No platform
dependencies, and no compiling required. The code is 100% Pure
Tcl/Tk.
The BWidget library was originally developed by UNIFIX Online, and
released under both the GNU Public License and the Tcl license.
BWidget is now maintained as a community project, hosted by
Sourceforge.
What is new?
------------
Dozens of bug fixes and enhancements have been applied since BWidget
1.6.0 was released in May 2003. For a complete list, you can view the
ChangeLog from the "Notes" icon on the project summary page at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcllib/ or you can read the ChangeLog
file in the distribution.
Where can I get it?
-------------------
You can download either .gz or .zip distributions from the files page
of the tcllib project at http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcllib/ The
tcllib project is home to several pure Tcl/Tk extensions.
How do I use it?
----------------
Since BWidget is a pure Tcl/Tk extension, you only need to unpack it
into your Tcl library directory. See the distribution's README.txt
file for instructions for both UNIX and Windows.
