I have the task of converting code from a tcl 7.6 to tcl
8.2. Are there any tools to assist in this process or do I
need to hand crank the code out?

I haven't used tcl in a very long time.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be great.

I don't recall seeing much of anything in 7.6 that didn't work in 8.2.

The TclPro Checker (with TclPro 1.3) may be of some
help. Download an eval copy and try it out.

According to shothem <shothem...@uswest.net.invalid>:
:8.2. Are there any tools to assist in this process or do I

:need to hand crank the code out?

I don't know of any free tools.

However, there are some nice chapters in later editions of Brent Welch's book
which aid in conversion efforts. If I were looking at such an effort,
I would keep an eye out for the announcement of his 3rd edition of the
book, hoping that he continues the tradition of documenting the major
porting concerns of each tcl release...
