Regina 3.5 has been released. The major update to this release is the
inclusion of Patrick McPhee's RegUtil (RexxUtil) package. See http://
sourceforge.net/projects/regina-rexx/files/ for available files.
If you don't see the file you need to download, click on the "3.5" folder
in "regina-rexx" folder.
Documentation is in the "3.5" folder in the "regina-documentation" folder.

Cheers, Mark

Great work, Mark! Thank you!

Addressing everyone/anyone:

When might there be a .deb (debian/ubuntu) package? I'm migrating from
an old Mandrake workstation to a new Ubuntu 9.10 workstation and was
surprised to see that the 'official' Regina REXX was 3.3.5.

So, I tried to be The First Kid on my block to have Regina 3.5.
From your "Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm Linux 32bit RPM", I tried to
create a .deb with `alien` and got (using verbose):

|$ sudo alien -v --scripts Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{NAME} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{VERSION} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{RELEASE} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{ARCH} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{CHANGELOGTEXT} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{SUMMARY} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{DESCRIPTION} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{COPYRIGHT} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
|error: incorrect format: unknown tag
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{PREFIXES} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{POSTIN} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{POSTUN} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{PREUN} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qp --queryformat %{PREIN} Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qcp Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| rpm -qpi Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| LANG=C rpm -qpl Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm
| mkdir Regina-REXX-3.5
| chmod 755 Regina-REXX-3.5
| rpm2cpio Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm | (cd Regina-REXX-3.5; cpio
| --extract --make-directories --no-absolute-filenames
| --preserve-modification-time) 2>&1
|Unpacking of 'Regina-REXX-3.5-1.i586.rpm' failed at
|/usr/share/perl5/Alien/Package/Rpm.pm line 155.
| find Regina-REXX-3.5 -type d -exec chmod 755 {} ;
| rm -rf Regina-REXX-3.5
|$

Then I ran `alien` once with --veryverbose
and got _several thousand_

cpio: Malformed number

errors -- with a final:

cpio: warning: skipped 63609 bytes of junk
cpio: warning: archive header has reverse byte-order

I know I'm on my own here in attempting this. Eventually there
should be an 'official' .deb package available. But ... does
anyone have any (better) experience in this area?

Thanks & HNY

I guess I should not get my hopes up too high on this. I came across
the Debian bug list for the regina-rexx package:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=regina-rexx

and found this still outstanding 'bug' report from 19 Sep 2008,
requesting that the regina package be updated from ver. 3.3 to the
then already-been-out-10-months regina 3.4 version:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=499553

The recent Debian/ubuntu 9.10 distro release comes with the
regina-rexx 3.3.5 in the distribution libraries....

sigh...
