I've lost the *.HLP files that came with my copy of IBM Object Rexx
(presumably when I uninstalled it).

I still have the install exe file, but cannot see an obvious way to
extract the help files without installing it, and goodness knows what
that might do to my current oorexx 4.1.1

I've tried to open the exe with 7-zip but it doesn't recognise the
format.

Are the help files downloadable anywhere? I couldn't find any.

Failing that, does anyone have a set they could send me?

Even though I use oorexx, I find the *.HLP files easier to use as a
quick reference.

And now I've found them - on our old laptop.

All I see are INF files; what are the HLP files?

I use a local copy of the .htm files for ooRexx. Much faster!

Could it be the difference in platforms? OS/2 uses .inf for
help files, while Windows uses .inf for setup information and
.hlp for the help files.
Not having IBM ORexx for Windows, I'm only guessing here.

No; OS/2 uses inf for files to be read with VIEW and hlp for files to
be displayed as help by an application. The differe4nce is actually
driven by a bit set by IPFC rather than by the extension.

Regardless of the speed, navigation is easier with the INF files.

Never seen them, so I'll take your word for it. I keep a tab open with the
ooRexx Ref and open a new tab when I click on a link. With my poor eyesight,
enlarging the font under Firefox is critical for me.

The directory C:\Program Files\ObjREXX\HELP as created by installing
IBM Object REXX under Windows contains files such as REXXREF.HLP

Windows (XP, at least) recognises the HLP filetype as "Open with
Windows Winhlp32 Stub"

This seems pretty much to be the de facto help style under XP.

Ah, the key word is WinDoze; things are different in OS/2.
