How to start prolog with macos 10.6.2

Sorry about a boring question:
I downloaded swi-prolog-5.8.2 an tried to install failure..
XGP ?? yes bit every description in English.
I can order a cup of tea, but its hard to work with English manuals.
Is there anybody here, who can bring me to the state, how to write
strauss.pro or strauss.pl and run this (with XGP). And please do this in
German. I have the old book "Arbeitsbuch Prolog von Gï¿œhner und Hafenbrak"
