When printing "to FILE" using a MS PS printer driver (such as for the HP
ColorLaserJet 8500 driver or the like) one has a choice of four PS options:

-- 1) Optimize for Speed,
-- 2) Optimize for Portability,
-- 3) EPS, and
-- 4) Archive Format.

OK, what EPS is I know (so I might use that but only for 1-page documents).
But what, in PostScript terms, do the options 1), 2) and 4) really signify?

I've been settling for 2) for most of my PS print jobs for now, as 1) has
led to printing out reams of PS command strings, 3) is surely not for
multi-page documents, and 4) comes out quadruple the file-size of the
others; but none of those observations is a terribly intelligent reason for
choosing 2) over the others.

Thanks for all enlightening relevant information. And cheers, -- tlvp
