Adobe's Carousel?

I am currently doing a group research project on Open Document
Architecture. My section is to investigate Adobe's Carousel
approach to this problem. All my attempts to find information
have drawn a blank. So if anyone has any information or knows
where I can get hold of some, could you please e-mail me and
let me know.

Adobe has renamed this effort to Acrobat. There are press releases
and technical overviews available from Adobe. I don't know what other
information they may have.

carousel was renamed acrobat.

according to today's new york times (in the article on ``microsoft
at word'', in the jump on p5):

Next week, Adobe plans to introduce Acrobat, a program
that allows documents to move more easily among different
computer systems, ...

i am just quoting a public source and not making any statement for
adobe. on the other hand, the people who know stuff probably can't
say anything until the product is announced.

looking around the adobe public ftp server (ftp.adobe.com), i did
find one press release, in pub/adobe/Updates/921123.Acrobat.press,
but i'm not sure that that has much you're interested in.

As another message pointed out, what used to be called Carousel is now
called Acrobat.

The complete specification of the Portable Document Format (PDF), which is
the native file format of the Acrobat family of products, will be published
by Addison-Wesley. The book will be available this summer and is called
the Portable Document Format Reference Manual (ISBN 0-201-62628-4).

Adobe just shipped the book desribing the Acrobat (the release
name of the product) format to developers. The book is called
the "Portable Document Format Reference Manual" by
Tim Bienz and Richard Cohn to be published by Addison-Wesley. The first
Acrobat products should ship in a few weeks. These will be products
for reading and generating PDF files on Windows and Macintosh
platforms.

You might be able to get more information from Adobe's anonymous
ftp address ftp.adobe.com or via their mail server:
ps-file...@adobe.com
For information on how to use the mail server, send a message
to it with the word "help" in the subject line and with nothing
in the body message.

I believe Carousel was abandoned and has been or will be released in a different
form called Acrobat.
