Hi !

Since some months, the group is flooded with very aggresive spam in italian language,

Can some administrator moderate the publications ?

Thanks

Carlos

Unfortunately, this is Usenet. There is no administrator. I’d be happy if I
could filter it.

If you are using googlegroups, you can mark it as abuse,
and the posting will not show again, though there will still
a one-line entry to say that you deleted it.
If enough people do that, maybe even that line will disappear
completely.

In article <930058295.641784178.5592...@news.eternal-september.org>,
Dedicated Usenet reader programs would let you establish a "killfile" based
on matches to sending user or subject (at least); that can help.

Moderated newsgroups are possible, but this isn't one; and I think that
requires approving every post that looks legitimate, which is very labor
intensive and usually slow, given that nobody is paid to do it.

A particular news server administrator could set their own policies on
what to cancel, but that would only help clients connecting to that site
(or other sites fed by that site, perhaps).

There is no good general solution to spam on Usenet, except using a
newsreader that's capable of helping you out.

I can’t even figure out a good way to filter email, except setting up a
whitelist. The spammers change email addresses for every email, and there’s
no pattern to the “sender” or the subject fields. It’s sad, though, that
those thousands of beautiful Asian women will never get to date me.
(actually, I guess I could block these, maybe I’ll do it next time I get
one)

In general yes, but these posts are of the same theme.

If you are using googlegroups, what you can do is to open the noxious
post and mark it as spam (there's a tiny icon near the top of the page).
Then, any more posts in the same thread will be automatically suppressed
(including future posts).
