I have uploaded a port of the SHARE FORTRAN IV to PL/I Translator
(360D-12.2.002) to the Iron Spring "Free stuff" page
(http://www.iron-spring.com/free.html). The Translator was only
minimally changed to get it to compile and run; I removed a couple of
items accepted only by early versions of PL/I(F) and eliminated EBCDIC
dependencies. The Translator still takes in only FORTRAN IV and outputs
PL/I(F) code, although the sample output compiled with the Iron Spring
compiler. The program is written in fairly good PL/I, so changes should
be simple.

The package includes full source of the converted program and the
original, and an updated version of the original documentation.

Thanks; I'll give it a try.
I wrote a quickie some time back to translate such codes:
FORTRAN 77 to Fortran 90, and then Fortran 90 to PL/I,
but the resultant code may need some hand editing.
It will be interesting to see how they compare.

I have modified Peter Flass's copy (which he ported to the PC),
to remove some bugs in the original version, and to improve the
quality of the translation.
