Hi There,

I am running into a roadblock and looking for advice/help on how to solve this.

I would like to use the Linear Problem Solver, lpsolve via PHP. I've installed lpsolve on my CentOS sever, compiled the phplpsolve55.so library and linked to it in the php.ini file. All is good from that side, the examples work as expected, etc...

Now, I have created a simple (solvable) problem via the lpsolve IDE that I would like to duplicate via PHP, but I don't understand the math components well enough to make this work.

Here's the problem as it looks in the LPSolve IDE
/* Maximum score */
max: 24 x1 + 5 x2;

/* Limits on players */
1 <= x1 + x2<=1;

/* Total cost constraint */
totalCost:6000 x1 + 7000 x2<=10000;

I don't understand the fundamental math terms used to make this work with the API referenced here? http://lpsolve.sourceforge.net/5.5/lp_solveAPIreference.htm

Here's the info on PHP Lpsolve
http://lpsolve.sourceforge.net/5.5/PHP.htm

Has anyone done this before, could you help me get this duplicated in PHP? I searched a lot of Google groups and I don't know if this is the best place to post this or not, if you have a better suggestion, please let me know also.

Thank you!

Actually, this is probably not the best place to post questions like
this. I doubt anyone on this newsgroup has ever used lpsolve (it's only
been downloaded 491 times).

When you're dealing with a package, the best place to get help is in the
support structure for the package. Unfortunately, the support page for
the package just points back to the main Sourceforge page, and there
haven't been any updates in over 4 years, so I suspect it's a dead
package. That's probably why you haven't found any help for it.

However, you might try writing one of the admins of the project to see
if they can answer your questions.

Other than that, I don't know how you can get help for it.

It has been downloaded 491 times during the last week.

Hi, Christoph,

Hmmm, my eyes are getting too old to read the fine print :)

I searched for a support group, but missed that one. Thanks for the
correction.
