Handling large Text in perlTk

Hi All;
I wrote a perlTk GUI and everything works fine except that
when the text to be added to a text area is too large, the
application quits with an "Out of memory!" message on the
command prompt.
Is there a way to handle large text files other than the
regular Text widget? Or are there any better alternatives
for handling arbitrarily large sizes at least a couple
of megabytes of data?
