tell users how big perl download is before download

Gee, I go to perl.com, go to the download page. Nowhere does it say
how big the file is, and indeed for this file netscape doesn't say so
either. OK, I click and ... by the time the smoke clears I have
31907840 devel.tar.gz

wow, 30M over my lil' old modem... Anyway, I still can't believe the
user is given no idea of how big the file is until one has fully
downloaded it. Therefore, add a note to that page, eh?

Are you sure? I just tested it by downloading this file. Mozilla told me
about a size of about 7700K in the download-window. On disk:

ethan@ethan:~$ l devel.tar.gz

Doesn't your browser tell you the size immediately after starting the
download? You could still cancel then.

Why not send mail to he...@www.perl.com (listed at the bottom of
http://perl.com)? Most of the readers of this newsgroup have no
affiliation with that website.
