epub/html - split page by page

Hi all,

It's really interesting how book reading applications like Stanza or
Eucalyptus split epubs which is html by page so lines are clear and
next page starts at the correct line. Does anyone has any idea how
this could be accomplished?

Or at least how can I split large html file by pages? Any clues? I
understand that I need to consider font size/top-bottom margin, hight
between lines and other's but still i would like to save original page
markup - tables/images/links etc.
