I find it interesting how many times I have heard ex-MUMPS programmers
look back on their MUMPS programming days with fondness. I suspect that
is due to the fact that the language is POWERFUL and brief and it is
blast to be able to dazzle the users with solutions that are slick and
done quickly.
Best of luck to you! I see others have already given you much good
advice. Do you feel a truly freeware (GNU model) release would be as
well received and trusted as products like LINUX? Not trying to bias
your response.. I am genuinely interested.
Actually, I tried to get this recently, and InterSystems no longer supports
the DT-Student product. The key has expired, and they won't generate new
ones. You can get the "student" version of MSM, though. Instructions are
at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/7041/msmi.html (Chris Bonnici's
web site)
