MUMPS V1 under cygwin will work. See:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/mumps/files/

Why do so many people assume that when someone says Windows they
actually might want cygwin. Cygwin is a hack, at best, and is
not Windows.

InterSystems offers a non-expiring, single-user version of their M[UMPS]

If you want to try something a little different and ultra-modern, try InterSystems' free GlobalsDB database (which is available for Windows) with EWD Lite:

http://gradvs1.mgateway.com/download/EWDLite.pdf

GlobalsDB is basically the core Mumps database engine that sits inside Cache. EWD Lite projects it as a JSON database and you program in JavaScript instead of the Mumps language.

That's inside Cache, though, isn't it? I don't need all the overhead because
all I want to do is screw around with some old, simple MUMPS routines.

Thanks

I have downloaded this and while things are a bit strange I think it's going to
work. My former engine was Datatree and I'll see about importing some routines
and globals and see if they fly.

Thank you for this link.

You can download MSM Workstation here:
ftp://ftp.intersys.com/pub/msm/
The file is MSMWS20.ZIP

MSM is about as close to DTM as you can get.

Hi Ray,

I've installed cygwin and downloaded mumps-1.66. The make on mumps finished successfully. I ran and got the following error:

$ ./mumps -j2 testdb
Creating share for 2 jobs with 1mb routine space,
1mb (64) global buffers, 16kb label/map space
and 64kb for locktab.
Unable to create shared memory section - Function not implemented

I'm trying to learn mumps...Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
