Class-Inheritance (Especially Alex Arnell's implementation (what prototype js uses))

Hi,

I'm currently doing some research on my bachelor-thesis. I'm trying to trace back the roots of Prototype's class and inheritance implementation. The comment in its source says it's based on "Alex Arnell's class inheritance". I've found its Google Code page ( http://code.google.com/p/inheritance/ ) but the first release there is already 2.4.

There's a discussion in a mailing-list [1] linking http://twologic.com/projects/inheritance/ as the source for 'getting it all started', but that site is down. Basically I'm just trying to figure out when it all started so I can include that in my thesis.

If anyone has a clue or a link it would just be awesome

Don't write your thesis on Prototype? It's was a largely irrelevant
failure that unfortunately gained widespread usage through RoR. Now
it's gone.
