Firewalls, Proxies, Java

My Applet is having a problem accessing WWW resources from behind a firewall
with a proxy server. I'm currently using the CGIAccess class, from the
Staten Island Java Group, which allows me to POST to a CGI. The connection
must be your standard http thing, and I've go no access to System properties
(Applet). Any ideas how to implement this? A POST to a CGI from behind a
firewall through a proxy?
