Hi all;

I'm thinking of getting a new computer.

I've seen the phrase "Java is deprecated on the Mac" in a bunch of
articles and blog posts from 2010. When I went to the Oracle site I
did not see any Java EE or SE downloads for Apple.

So, what is the deal? Does Apple make their own Java and do they plan
to stop?

Thanks in advance for any info

Steve

see http://support.apple.com/downloads/Java_for_Mac_OS_X_10_5_Update_4

Applet has not yet got a Java 1.7 out, so they are behind. You can
check compatibility by going to
http://mindprod.com/applet/applets.html
from a demo mac and check for yourself that some applets run.

Programmers love to create simplified replacements for HTML.
They forget that the simplest language is the one you
already know. They also forget that their simple little
markup language will bit by bit become even more convoluted
and complicated than HTML because of the unplanned way it grows.
