Well, try uninstalling the updates which you think might be hurting.

They used to be called "crashes".
Now it's "features" :-)

Thanks, Luca -- I may try that. I just wondered if this was a
widespread phenomenon, or if we are just special.
I have run into the same problem and was wondering if you tried
uninstalling recent Windows XP updates. Did it work?
Thanks,
Frank
Hi
I have been having the same problem. I uninstalled all the updates
but it still did not fix the problem.
Has anyone figured out how to fix it?
Thanks!
Doesn't seem to happen here -- I just added a file to an existing
project. I do, however, only do selective XP updates and select only
those that seem to have something specifically that might be an issue
rather than full updates. (That's mostly owing to slow dialup and
limiting download time, not anything all that paranoid altho I am a
strong believer in the dictum "if it ain't _obviously_ broke...".)
Not that it helps directly, but one would suppose if a rollback didn't
fix the symptom it's either an updated system dll that did _not_ get
removed or some registry issue perhaps.
Tried running a registry cleaning tool recently?
