The reason why I am interested is that, currently I am using a private news
server to read/post on this newsgroup. In couple of months I loose access
to that server. So I would prefer access to this newsgroup from a free
service such as gmane. If there are other alternatives available, please
enlighten me.
thanks

Ask the folks at gmane.org if they carry comp.lang.fortran, and if not
would they please subscribe to it... This took maybe 2 minutes of
looking to get their contact info.
Jim
you could try news.aioe.org although I think they hope to have limited posting-traffic.

Or fork out 5 bucks a month for a newsfeed. Pays to shop around. If you
need more bandwidth for binaries than the minimum, you either have a serious
hobby or a problem.

For the bigger ones it seems to be. For myself, in a small local market
area, they pulled the plug and I've not been able to convince them to
put it back. Apparently I was the only person who complained. :(
I'm using the news.aioe.org site -- it's ok, a little limited in scope
if you're really into everything and retention time is pretty short but
the price is right... :)
Can't think of the server name just now -- there was a German free
server that went to a minimal charge format a couple of years ago -- I
used it the first year and it was fine but figured I'd try the cheap
route for a while and let it lapse. It was really quite inexpensive
though. A google would probably find it pretty easily.

Please reply to the newsgroup.
You can find my real e-mail on my home page above.
http://news.astraweb.com/ has 25gb for us$10, which should last for
many, many years (if you're only reading text newsgroups, that is).
