comp.object and comp.software.patterns have not had any postings for a very
long time. So where are these kinds of topics discussed nowadays? Thanks.

Google is your friend... I found many articles on software patterns and a
number of forums (fora?), off Usenet.

search hint: software pattern forums

If you are looking for OO COBOL background and (hopefully) discussion it
will be on the new PRIMA site.

(This is now overdue and I seriously undercalled the effort involved. Had I
known what was involved in getting it how I wanted it, I would never have
undertaken it and would have just refurbished the two existing sites.
Designing and building the new site has occupied me full time for the last
couple of months and it is still a couple of weeks away.

However, what I have is looking good and the very few people who have been
allowed a glimpse have all been excited about it. It has certainly been a
huge learning curve and I have had to acquire Ajax, JSON, and JQuery, up my
JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3, and really push the C# code-behinds. It has
meant hitting the books (Internet, actually...) to get the information for
creating what I hope will be a fully cross browser, touch surface and mobile
device enabled site.

Just a tip for anyone considering adding video to their web site: If you
possibly can, use YouTube for streaming. Their new HTML5 player is
outstanding and incorporates automatic Flash fallback.)

Pete.
