we have some applications to be converted from Tandem 85 to IBM cobol
370.
I was just trying to get some differences between the two, but to no
avail.
From the Tandem 85 code what I analysed, the cobol verbs looked to me
like
the one confirming to VS COBOL II. Are there any significant
differences between the two versions(except for Tandem compiler
directives,SQL/MP calls,
LE related changes and JCL considerations too).

Try posting this question on comp.sys.tandem.

I can't speak directly to VS COBOL II, but Tandem COBOL 85 batch programs
should covert easily. However, pathway servers will be more work to convert,
because IBM probably doesn't have a system analogous to Tandem's pathway.

Good luck.
