Yesterday, Twitter's Support account warned users not to update to the latest Android version because they are "investigating a problem" that could cause the app to immediately crash when it is opened.

Today, Twitter released an updated Twitter for Android app that brings its version v8.28.1. This update does not include any new features and only resolves the crash issues experienced by its users as seen by its changelog:

There are many possible reasons why apps crash on Android, so the best approach is to try to troubleshoot the situation, starting with the easiest and most convenient fixes first. Here are eight things you can try if you encounter a misbehaving Android app that crashes on your device.

When you're having a problem with your phone, it's always a good idea to start by making sure your operating system is up to date and to install any available updates. This eliminates the possibility that the problem is caused by an easily fixed bug.

Update 2 (06/24/2021 05:07 PM ET): Google is rolling out an update to the Google App that fixes the crashing issue. Click here for more information. The article, as published on June 22, 2021, is preserved below.

Version 12.24 of the Google App is now rolling out to users automatically, according to a Google Community Manager. This update resolves the crashing issue plaguing many Android devices this past week. You can download the update manually from the Play Store if you haven't received it yet. Here are the steps that Google shared to grab the update:

It seems that the update also fixed a problem where some notifications from the Messages app were not being received. For more information about that issue read: What to do if you are not getting text notifications on iPhone.

This one was just for iPhone 12 series users and includes a few bug fixes that were specific to those phones including a bug that stopped messages arriving from Android users, and a bug that lead to poor sound quality with certain accessories. Such is the case with the official Twitter for Mac app that is available on the Mac App Store. Over the course of just a few days, more and more users found that the app would instantly crash whenever you tried to open it. Luckily, the problem was identified, but an update was not immediately available from the Mac App Store.

Many users found that if you encountered Twitter for Mac crashing, the easiest way to solve the problem was to simply delete and re-install the app on your Mac. Here are a couple of different methods for how you can do so on the Mac:

There are a few steps you can take to help restore your Opera browser to working order. Even if the steps here help you, sending Opera a crashlog report, including details of what you were doing when Opera froze, helps us fix future browsers. This way we can help others that may experience the same problem.

If Opera still crashes, submit a bug report. Compress your Opera profile folder using .zip, .rar, or 7zip, and send it along with your report. If you find the file that made Opera crash, specify this in the bug report.

When I installed iOS 16 on my iPhone 11, it broke my phone and then informed me that my battered needed to be serviced. My phone no longer syncs properly with iCloud and none of the information from my phone updates to other devices (another syncing issue) but all iCloud apps/functions are on and reported to be working fine. Some update.

Instagram is quick to fix bugs and prevent their app from crashing. There are always issues with apps, however, and crashing can persist on any device due to a bug within the app or an issue with the phone itself. Crashes are especially common when the iOS and Android platforms make major updates to their operating systems and release new phone versions. There are a few common and easy methods used to fix a crashing Instagram app on Android and iPhones.

Instagram was crashing on numerous Android devices in Q1 and Q2 of 2018. Problems of this nature are not excessively common but they do arise on occasion. Instagram rolled out a repair that resolved the bug automatically and Android users were not required to do anything outside of their standard automatic updates. The patch worked on most phones, although a small percentage of phones would not push the update live. In these cases, Instagram simply asked the users to uninstall the app, then execute a fresh install from Google Play. This fix resolved the Android Instagram error.

There are multiple approaches to fixing a crash on iOS model phones. The first is to close all of your background apps by pressing the home button twice and swiping up to close apps. If they are running in the background for too long, a problem may arise that causes the crash.

If that does not work, try a restart. Power down the phone completely, wait a few minutes then restart the phone. Test the app after the phone is restarted. If the app is still crashing, check your phone for updates. If the latest version of Instagram is not installed, your app is more likely to crash. Push any updates available for Instagram specifically or for the operating system as a whole. If the problem persists, uninstall the Instagram app then do a fresh re-install and test again. This should fix the problem. If it does not fix the crash, your phone may be the issue, not the app itself.

How long does iOS 15 take to prepare update? when you see the message "Preparing Update", it means that your phone is preparing the update file for download and installation. It usually takes 30 minutes to prepare iOS 15 update depending on your network speed. But if you get stuck on Preparing Update, try the quick fixes below:

You'll be asked to submit an update within 90 days to keep your app on the App Store. If you're unable to make the changes within this time frame, your app will be removed from the App Store until you submit an update and it's approved. Please note that apps that crash on launch will be removed immediately.

If you're having this problem, something that's worked for many people is to go into the Google Play Store on your device and uninstall the latest update to a system app called "Android System WebView." It's the app that provides Chrome-like browser rendering within apps, and according to developers and end users, many of the errors people are seeing indicate the problem resides there.Turn on browser notifications to receive breaking news alerts from EngadgetYou can disable notifications at any time in your settings menu. Not nowTurn onTurned onTurn on

Any new iOS version is designed to best work with the latest and updated applications, and iOS 16 is no exception. Hence many users might encounter app crashes where some apps crash at launch and others while in use. You can get rid of it by updating the outdated apps on your iPhone. If the app is already running on its latest version, you can try deleting and reinstalling it.

As our sister site TouchArcade notes, there was a prior version of the original Myst game available for iOS devices all the way back in 2009, but this is an updated version that is free to download and play.

Most of the time lack of space in the device makes the app to behave abruptly. Generally iPhone users overload their device with a hundreds of music, photos or videos that cripple the storage space. Apps keep crashing as there is not enough space to perform their tasks. Also a poor mobile network or Wi-Fi does not let the apps to launch properly.

In App Store tap on Updates, download and install available updates of the application that is freezing or quitting unexpectedly. After the install, check the app again on iPhone, if it is working properly.

The Facebook app crashing more than other apps is likely because of several reasons. One of the main reasons that your Facebook app keeps crashing could be that you have not updated the app for a while. Sometimes not having installed the latest update can cause issues while logging in and also while using the app.

If you have tried clearing space and updating the app to its newest version and the Facebook app continues to crash, try uninstalling or deleting it from your phone. There can be many reasons why the app is freezing, and by deleting and starting a new Facebook download, you are downloading a new and better functioning app.

However, when apps are left open in the background of your iPhone, they still have the ability to send and receive data, which can start to cause iPhone X battery drain. There's also a chance that they'll crash, which would make your iPhone X battery die quickly.

Beyond crash reporting and telemetry, VS Code uses online services for various other purposes such as downloading product updates, finding, installing, and updating extensions, or providing Natural Language Search within the Settings editor. You can learn more in Managing online services.

VS Code does a background check to detect if the installation has been changed on disk and if so, you will see the text [Unsupported] in the title bar. This is done since some extensions directly modify (patch) the VS Code product in such a way that is semi-permanent (until the next update) and this can cause hard to reproduce issues. We are not trying to block VS Code patching, but we want to raise awareness that patching VS Code means you are running an unsupported version. Reinstalling VS Code will replace the modified files and silence the warning.

We probably have the same issue.
We fixed it for us by replacing the sccmrdpsystem.exe in the remctl folder with .exe from version 2107.
Hopefully there will be a hotfix that will fix it soon.
