we've just upgraded a pc from VO 2.5a-1 to 2.5b-2 and now vo doesn't make
any exe-files anymore!!!
what we've done:
- exported everything from 2.5a-1
- uninstalled VO 2.5a-1, deleted everything we found (C:\CaVo25,
C:\CA_APPSW, ...) except C:\CA_LIC, which couldn't be deleted because Win
2000 said the LIC98.dll is in use (even after restart)
- installed VO 2.5 new
- patched 2.5b and 2.5b-2 sucessfully
- imported everything
- compiled it
linking says "....exe" generated successfully, but the file isn't existing!
created a new application in a new project - with the same result.
ANY IDEAS?
TIA.

Did you delete the .VOM & .DBG files??
Check the path in Application properties.
Check the system path.
Re-Index the repo.
Have you applied SP1 to W2K??

yes, as said, the whole Cavo25 directory was deleted before installing

done. ok

as i said, the directory C:\CA_LIC couldn't be deleted before installing, so
there was no need to register-it.
but we've already executed register-it again, and it doesn't help anyway.
generating still no exe-files (or dlls).

Unless that's where you create your .exe you haven't deleted them - they're
in the Application folder.
So I deleted all and restart has you did ( and I deleted ca_appsw and
ca_lic )
and patched 25 to 25b an 25b1 without open VO
presently this problem has disapeared.
I think you must restart again

The .exe was created in c:\cavo25\bin\, so, yes, the .vom & .dbg files where
deleted.
And even a new created application in a new project couldn't produce a .exe.
BUT, AS MATTER OF FACT, THIS SUBJECT ISN'T URGENT ANYMORE, BECAUSE THE
'PROBLEM-PC' HAS BEEN SET OUT OF SERVICE.
(Installing 2.5b-2 on a 'fresh' machine worked without any trouble.)

Hi Berndt,
Since you have worked with CLIPPER; I would strongly recommend to use Visual Objects. It is a good and strong tool AND YOU CAN USE YOUR CLIPPER KNOWLEDGE !!!!!
