What is the antivirus that is prefferable?

McCafee : Machines are hanged
Norton 2000 : Slows down a bit
Norton 2001 : Slows down a lot!

Is there any permanent solution or fine tuning known to this ??

TIA
Stavros

Had you excluded all *.dbf *.cdx *.ntx *.dbg *.vom file from
monitoring by NAV?

Stavros,

Have you try http://antivirus.cai.com/ It's free and made by CA. I've no
comparison point with Norton 2001, but it has good results on my machine

Sincerely,

JPV

Stavros,

I use CA InoculateIT for more then few months. It's free, registered,
VirDefs are updated almost every day, and I don't see any slowdown on
machines where InoculateIT is instaled. InoculateIT can send VirusAlert from
WorkStation to SystemManger via e-mail...

BRG,
Vito.

As many others have already said, I also use InnoculateIT Personal
Edition. It is free, does not slow down the PC and since I use it I
have not had any virus incident. And you get auto-updates from an
amazing fast connection to CA.

I use Norton 2000 and find no real performance degradation.
I have excluded *.dbf *.cdx *.ia *.ntx *.dbt *.fpt plus a few others.
Other benefits I have found are auto-update of virus definitions and as the
majority of my clients also use it, we can share "tweaking" ideas as they
come along.
